1461322 Disulphide regulators in diene polymerization BAYER AG 8 Feb 1974 [10 Feb 1973 23 May 1973] 5854/74 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] Conjugated dienes, particularly chloroprene, are polymerized in aqueous dispersion, alone or with another diene and/or an α-olefin in the presence of a xanthogen disulphide of formula wherein R is the same or different and is where each X is independently H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or halogen and n 1 and n 2 are 1-20, as molecular weight modifiers. Benzene soluble polychloroprene thus produced may be mixed with a benzene-insoluble cross-linked chloroprene polymer, particularly a copolymer of chloroprene and a diester of a dihydric aliphatic alcohol and an acrylic acid. The mixing may be done in the latex form and the mixed polymers isolated or they may be mixed after isolation by mechanical means. |
