abstract | 1460334 Insecticidal evaporator CIBAGEIGY AG 15 March 1974 [16 March 1973] 11733/74 Heading A5E An insecticidal evaporator comprises a fibrous mass impregnated with a liquid composition containing (a) 40-90% by wt. of an insecticidal ester of phosphoric acid having a vapour pressure of at least 10<SP>-3</SP> Ton at 20C; (b) at least one organic liquid epoxide compound having a vapour pressure less than or equal to that of component (a); and either (c) a compound of the formula: wherein X 1 represents a hydrogen atom and X 2 represents a hydrogen atom or one of the substituents represented by (R) 2 or X 1 and X 2 together represent a divalent radical -CH=CH-CH=CH, and R n represents (i) 2 or 3 hydroxyl groups, (ii) 1-3 alkyl grotips each containing 1-4 C atoms, (iii) 1-3 alkyl groups each containing 1-4 C atoms together with -OH group, one of which substituents (i)-(iii) may occupy the X 2 position or (iv) an alkoxy group containing 1-4 C atoms; or (d) di-(2 chloroethoxy)-methane, component (c) or (d) being present in amount 1-40% by wt; at least a part of the surface of the fibrous mass being covered by a non-porous layer consisting essentially of olefin polymer having a thickness of less than 150Á and permits passage of component (a) by diffusion, the remainder of the surface being covered by an evelope impermeable to the composition. The preferred insecticide (component (a)) is 2, 2 dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate, the preferred compounds for component (b) are expoxidised soya bean oil and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A; and the preferred compounds of component (c) are e.g. 2-ethoxynaphthalene, hydroquinone and resorcinol. |
