abstract | 1459881 Sulphoxidation SOC NATIONALE DES PETROLES D'AQUITAINE 18 Sept 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 40696/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Paraffin-sulphonic acids are prepared by photochemical sulphoxidation of paraffins using a gaseous SO 2 /O 2 mixture and a liquid paraffin phase, at least a portion of the gaseous mixture being injected into the liquid phase in the form of a finely divided dispersion in a carrier liquid consisting of a portion of the reaction mixture, fresh paraffinic phase or unreacted paraffinic phase recovered from the reaction mixture. Suitable reactors (20) comprise one or more injectors (33, 34, 35 or 40) operated by circulating reaction mixture and serving to inject gaseous SO 2 /O 2 mixture in the form of a finely divided dispersion in reaction mixture. The SO 2 /O 2 mixture is drawn from the space above the reaction mixture either indirectly through pipe 37 (Fig. 3) or directly as in Fig. 4. |
