titleOfInvention Imidazolyl-thiono-phosphoric-phosphonic- acid esters and ester-amides and their use as insecticides acaricides and nematicides
abstract 1457233 Phosphorus-containing imidazole derivatives and intermediates therefor BAYER AG 16 May 1975 [2 July 1974] 20818/75 Headings C2P and C2C The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, C 1 -C 6 alkoxy or mono- or di(C 1 -C 6 alkyl)- amino, R<SP>11</SP> is CN or carbo(C 1 -C 5 )alkoxy, R<SP>111</SP> is C 1 -C 6 alkyl or C 2 -C 6 alkenyl and X is O or S. They are prepared by reacting a halide: (RO)(R<SP>1</SP>)P(X)Hal where Hal is halogen with a compound (III) optionally in the presence of a solvent or diluent, the compound III being reacted as such in the presence of an acid acceptor, or in the form of an alkali metal-, alkaline earth metal- or ammonium salt thereof. The products have insecticidal, acaricidal and nematicidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions. The compounds of Formula (III) may be obtained (a) (in the case when R<SP>11</SP> is CN) by reacting a compound: R<SP>111</SP>NHCH 2 CN with a compound: C 2 H 5 OCONCS in the presence of alcoholate and then reacting the intermediate formed with a compound: AlKZ wherein Z is an easily removable radical, e.g. halogen, with further addition of alcoholate, or (b) (when R<SP>11</SP> is carbalkoxy) by reacting KCNS, and a compound: R<SP>111</SP>HNCH 2 COOR<SP>IV</SP> to give an intermediate where R<SP>IV</SP> is C 1 -C 5 alkyl and then cyclizing the intermediate and reacting the cyclized product with a compound AlkZ where Z is as defined above. Examples are given for the production of various specific compounds (including intermediates) by the above processes (a) and (b). isoPropylaminoacetic acid ethyl ester is obtained by passing HCl into a solution of in ethanol followed by the addition of water.
