titleOfInvention Amine remouldable rubbers
abstract 1455939 Modified elastomers POLYSAR Ltd 5 Nov 1974 [8 Nov 1973] 47858/74 Heading C3P Rubbery conjugated C 4-6 diene polymers also containing 2-5 wt. per cent of units of a dimethylaminoalkyl (meth)acrylate, as defined by a formula, are modified by reaction with an organic halogen compound containing at least two halogen atoms in an amount such as to provide at least 0À25 moles of halogen groups per mole of tertiary amine groups in the polymer. The products contain reversible crosslinking, and can thus be re-moulded. In examples, the polymer is SBR or nitrile rubber each containing units of dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, and the halogen compound is α,α<SP>1</SP> - dichloro - p - xylene, α,α<SP>1</SP> - dibromo - pxylene or liquid dibromo-polybutadiene.
