titleOfInvention Iminoisoindolinone pigments and process for their manufacture n1454209honeywell inc digital-information-handling apparatus
abstract 1454208 Iminoisoindolinone pigments CIBAGEIGY AG 15 Aug 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 35994/74 Heading C4P The invention comprises pigments of the general formula wherein each R 1 denotes an aromatic radical, R 2 is H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, C 5 -C 6 cycloalkyl or an isocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radical, X 3 is a direct bond or an imino group, each X is halogen, Y and Z are halogen, alkoxy or alkylmercapto containing 1-6 C atoms, C 5 -C 6 cycloalkoxy, aralkoxy, aryloxy or arylmercapto. They are prepared by condensing an isoindolinone of the general formula wherein V is >C=X 2 or >C(Y 2 ) 2 wherein X 2 is an imino or thio group and each Y 2 is a halogen atom or alkoxy or secondary amino group with a diamine of the general formula wherein R 1 , R 2 and X 3 are as above in the molar ratio 2 : 1. The reaction takes place initially in the cold and then with warming at 20-100‹ C. The pigments are used to colour cellulose ethers and esters, nitrocellulose, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters, urea- and melamineformaldehyde resins, alkyd resins, phenoplasts, polycarbonates, polystyrene, P.V.C., polyethylene, polypropylene, polyacrylonitrile, polyacrylic acid esters, thermoplastic and thermosetting acrylic resins, rubber, casein, silicone and silicone resins, spinning solutions, lacquers or printing inks.
