titleOfInvention | Bright dip compositions for leadtin alloys |
abstract | 1453886 Etching MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 12 March 1974 [13 March 1973] 11020/74 Heading B6J [Also in Division C7] A bright-dip composition for Pb-Sn alloys comprises an aqueous solution at pH 0À2-3À0 containing 50-250 g./l. HBF 4 , tartaric, sulphamic, phenylsulphonic and/or gluconic acid and/or an alkali metal or ammonium salt thereof, 15-50 g./l. thiourea which may optionally carry one or two N-substituents, (e.g. monoethyl, diethyl or dipropyl) and 0À5-20 g./l. trichloracetic, vanadic, nitrobenzoic and/or nitrobenzene sulphonic acid and/or an alkali metal or ammonium salt thereof. Optional ingredients are 5-30 g./l. HCl or an alkali metal or ammonium chloride and 1-10g./l. nonionic surfactant, e.g. a polyoxyalkylene-alkyl phenol condensate. Use may be by spraying or dipping at 20-90‹ C. for 5-60 sec. The composition is useful in brightening Sn-Pb deposits or Cu or Au substrates which latter have been etched in alkaline ammoniacal chloride-containing baths thus dulling the Sn-Pb. |
