titleOfInvention | Anionic polymerization of unsaturated monomers |
abstract | 1452235 Anionic polymerization catalyst VYSOKA SKOLA CHEMICKO-TECHNOLOGICKA 27 Sept 1974 42108/74 Heading C3P Unsaturated monomers are polymerized in the presence of an anionic initiator of the formula Me[AlH x (OCH 2 CH 2 Y) 4-x ] n where Me is a Group Ia or IIa metal and n is the valence thereof, Y is OR or NR 2 , where R is alkyl, and x is 1 or 2. The process may be effected in bulk or in solution and may take place in two stages. Examples refer to the polymerization of styrene, alone or in admixture with butadiene, acrylonitrile, alone or with styrene, or styrene together with glycidyl methacrylate in the presence of the following alanates: NaAlH 2 (OCH 2 CH 2 OCH 3 ) 2 , NaAlH(OCH 2 CH 2 N(CH 3 ) 2 ) 3 , LiAlH(OCH 2 CH 2 OC 2 H 5 ) 3 , and NaAlH 2 (OCH 2 CH 2 OCH(CH 3 ) 2 ) 2 and (for comparison) LiAlH 4 , amylsodium or NaB(C 6 H 5 ) 4 . |
