titleOfInvention Dental restorative cement composition
abstract 1451262 Dental cement comprising curable binder JOHNSON & JOHNSON 1 July 1974 29036/74 Heading C3P A package for forming a curable dental cement composition comprises as ingredients: a major proportion of a particulate inorganic filler, a polymerizable binder for admixture with said filler, a peroxide initiator and an activator for said initiator, said package comprising two separate packs each containing some but not all of said ingredients, such that when the contents of the two packs are mixed together, polymerization occurs; said binder comprising a monomer having the formula (a) wherein R in each instance is H or CH 3 , or having formula (b) wherein R 1 is CH 3 -, CH 3 CH 2 -, or and R 2 is H or CH 3 . The compounds of formula (a) are glycerol triacrylate and trimethacrylate, and monomers conforming to formula (b) are trimethylol ethane triacrylate and trimethacrylate, trimethylol propane triacrylate and trimethacrylate, and trimethylolbutane triacrylate and trimethacrylate. The initiator systems and fillers used in the examples are those commonly used in dental cements of this type, e.g. peroxide/amine initiators, and quartz fillers. Further polyunsaturated monomers may be present in addition to those of the above formulĀµ, and many examples of these are given.
