abstract | 1450342 Determining sugar tolerance in a subject OTSUKA PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 16 Sept 1974 40303/74 Heading G1B Sugar tolerance in a subject is determined by orally administering a solution of 25-150 g maltose of > 60 wt. per cent purity in 50-500 ml water, taking blood samples before and at various times after the administration, and analyzing the samples to determine the variation in glucose level with respect to time. The maltose preferably comprises < 10 wt. per cent saccharides composed of more than 5 monosaccharide units. Diabetes can be diagnozed by comparison of the results with those of a healthy subject. |
