1447612 Polyalkoxylated sulphonic acid salts; polyesters BAYER AG 8 April 1975 [11 April 1974] 14337/75 Heading C3R [Also in Division C2] Novel compounds of formula where R is H or CH 3 , X is NH 4 or alkali metal and (m+n)=1-60, are prepared by reacting an alkoxylated 2-methylene-propane-1,3-diol with a bisulphite XHSO 3 at a temperature up to 100‹ C. and at a pH of 3-9 in the presence of catalytically active oxygen using a molar ratio of bisulphite to diol of 1 : 1 to 5 : 1. The oxygen may be finely divided air or a compound liberating oxygen such as hydrogen peroxide. A polyester is prepared from dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol and a sulphonate of the above formula in which R = M and m+n=3. |
