titleOfInvention Production of azines
abstract 1446279 Azines BAYER AG 3 Sept 1974 [5 Sept 1973] 38399/74 Heading C2C In the manufacture of azines by reacting ammonia, hydrogen peroxide and an aldehyde or a ketone, the catalyst used is selenium, tellurium or a compound of selenium or tellurium, e.g. selenium dioxide, selenous acid, selenic acid, tellurous acid, telluric acid or an ammonium, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, zinc, aluminium, tin, lead, arsenic, antimony, bismuth or silver selenite, selenate, selenide, tellurite, tellurate or telluride. The sodium salt of ethylene diamine tetracetic acid may also be present during the reaction. The ketone and hydrogen peroxide may be used, wholly or in part as a ketone peroxide. Similarly the ketone, hydrogen peroxide and ammonia may be used, wholly or in part, in the form of an aminoperoxide of the ketone. Examples describe the preparation of the azines of acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and cyclohexanone.
