titleOfInvention | Inhibiting the polymerization of unsaturated carboxylic acid |
abstract | 1445918 Stabilization of unsaturated esters MONSANTO CO 15 Oct 1974 [23 Jan 1974] 44615/74 Addition to 1445647 Heading C2C Unsaturated carboxylic acid esters are inhibited against polymerization by incorporating an N - (aminoalkyl) - N<SP>1</SP> - phenyl - p - phenylenediamine of formula in which R, R 1 and R 2 independently are hydrogen or alkyl (1-5C), X is hydrogen, chloro, trichloromethyl, trifluoromethyl, alkyl (1-5C), alkoxy or phenoxy, and n is 1-5. The unsaturated carboxylic esters are the aliphatic esters of mono-, di-, and tricarboxylic acids such as acrylic, methacrylic, angelic, crotonic, isocrotonic, propynoic, sorbic, oleic, elaidic, linoleic, α-eleostearic, #-eleostearic, α-linolenic and erucic acids, maleic, fumaric, itaconic and acetylenedicarboxylic acids and aconitic-(1,2,3- propenatin carboxylic acid. Many inhibitor compounds are listed and an example describes the inhibition of ethyl methacrylate by N-(2- methyl - 2 - aminopropyl) - N<SP>1</SP> - phenyl - pphenylenediamine. |
