titleOfInvention Piperidine derivatives
abstract 1442118 Diphenylmethylene-diphenylmethyl- and diphenylmethylol-piperidines RICHARDSON-MERRELL Inc 7 Feb 1975 [4 March 1974] 5380/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts, wherein n is 4 or 5; either R is H or OH, and R<SP>1</SP> is H, or R-R<SP>1</SP> forms a further bond; Y is >CO, >C : HOH or > CHOH; and Z is Ph which may be substituted, possible substituents being given in the Specification. In examples, the ketones are prepared generally by reacting Z-Y-(CH 2 ) n -Cl with the appropriate piperidine compound, and may be either reduced to the alcohols are reacted with NH 2 OH to form the oximes. Alternatively, one substituent or Z may be converted into another. Therapeutic compositions having antihistaminic, antiallergic and bronchodilating activity comprise compounds of the above formula, and may be administered orally, parenterally, intranasally or by spray.
