abstract 1441859 5 - Acyloxy - 1 - aralkylpyrazoles BAYER AG 19 Dec 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 54908/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula and their salts wherein R is H, CF 3 or alkyl; R<SP>1</SP> is H or alkyl; R<SP>2</SP> is alkyl; R<SP>3</SP> is aryl which contains 1 or 2 of (a) alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, halogen and CF 3 , or 1 of (b) alkylamino, CF 3 O, NO 2 , CN, CONH 2 , SO 2 NH 2 and and optionally 1 or 2 substituents as listed under (a), or R<SP>3</SP> contains a fused carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, or is naphthyl or pyridyl; and R<SP>4</SP> is acyl or sulphonyl. These compounds are prepared by forming the ester group from the corresponding pyrazolone, by reaction with a carboxylic or sulphonic acid derivative. Therapeutic compositions having diuretic, saluretic and antihypertensive activity, and which are said to be useful in cases of acute kidney failure, and in thrombosis and other conditions which are favourably influenced by changing the water-electrolyte balance, comprise compounds of the above formula. Conventional pharmaceutical formulations are described.
