abstract 1440644 Photographic silver halide materials KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd 26 Sept 1973 [28 Sept 1972] 45012/73 Heading G2C A non-stick overcoating layer for a photosensitive silver halide material consists of or contains a polymer comprising monomer units having an guanidylamino or guanidylimino group in the side chain, and especially a polymer represented by the following Formula:- where R 1 is H or alkyl of 1-4 carbons, A is a group -CON(R 2 )-, -C(R3)=N-, -COOC(CH3)2- C(CH 3 )=N-, -CONHC(CH 3 ) 2 CH 2 C(CH 3 )=N-, -CH 2 N(R 2 )-, -COOCH 2 CH 2 N(R 2 )-, -CONHCH 2 N(R 2 )-, -OCOCH 2 NH-, -COOCH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 NI(R 2 )-, -CONHCH 2 CH 2 N(R 2 )- or of one of the Formulae:- R 2 is H or alkyl of 1-4C, R 3 is H, alkyl of 1-4C, or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, R4 is H, halogen or alky of 1-4C, X is an anion, M is a unit derived from a copolymerizable monomer, m and n indicate the mole percentages of the monomer units, m + n = 100 and m being 20-100% and n being 80-0%. Copolymerizable monomers include methyl methacrylate, N-(butoxymethyl)- acrylamide, N-diacetonyl acrylamide, vinyl methyl ketone, vinyl phenyl ketone and vinyl methyl ether. The anti-slick layer is particularly effective when applied over an anti-halation layer.
