titleOfInvention Tertiary perfluoro-amino ethers and process for their preparation
abstract 1438828 Tertiary perfluoro-amino ethers HOECHST AG 13 Aug 1973 [9 Feb 1973] 38318/73 Heading C2C Tertiary perfluoro-amino ethers of the general formula wherein, R f1 is a straight-chain or branched perfluoroalkyl radical; R f2 is straight-chain or branched-chain a perfluoroalkyl radical or -CF 2 CF(R f3 )OCF 3 ; R f3 is a C 1 -C 3 perfluoroalkyl radical or an F atom; x and y, same or different, each is 0, 1 or 2 and z is 1, 2 or 3, with the proviso that x+y+z=3, are prepared by the electrolytic fluorination of an amino ether of general formula in anhydrous liquid HF, in which R 1 and R 2 are each alkyl radicals, R 3 is a C 1 -C 3 alkyl group or H atom. Amongst numerous examples the compounds N(C 2 F 4 0C 2 F 7 ) 3 , and N(CF 2 CF(CF 3 )0C 3 F 7 ) 3 are prepared. Compounds of Formula II wherein at least one of R 1 and R 2 has 13 or more C atoms when R 3 is H or CH 3 are stated to be novel and are prepared by reacting the corresponding aminoalcohols or their amino alcoholates with hexafluoropropane.
