titleOfInvention | Thermosetting powder coatings |
abstract | 1437663 Powder coating composition UNION CARBIDE CORP 16 April 1974 [23 April 1973] 16593/74 Heading C3B A thermosetting powder coating composition comprises: (I) a polymer containing 50-95% by wt. of vinyl chloride, 1-25% by wt. of glycidyl acrylate or methacrylate and optionally one or more other ethylenically unsaturated monomers and (II) a crosslinking agent for the glycidyl group; substantially all the particles having a size between 1 and 75 Á. An example of I is a 80/10/10 vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate/ glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer. II may be a polyol or polycarboxylic acid. A curing catalyst, e.g. a stannous carboxylate may also be present. II may be present at 0À1 to 1 equivalents per epoxide equivalent of I. Conventional pigments, dyes, fillers, stabilizers, flow control additives and other adjuvants may be present. |
