titleOfInvention Phosphorus-containing unsaturated carboxylic acid esters
abstract 1436404 Phosphorus-containing unsaturated esters CIBA-GEIGY AG 7 Sept 1973 [8 Sept 1972 30 July 1973] 42242/73 Heading C2P The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R 1 is methyl or ethyl, R 2 is C 3 -C 5 alkyl, R 3 is C 1 -C 3 alkyl, allyl, C 3 -C 6 alkynyl, benzyl, α-methylbenzyl, methoxyethyl, methoxyethoxyethyl or 1-methyl-2-methoxyethyl and X is O or S. They may be obtained by either (a) reacting a compound: (R 1 O)(R 2 S)P(X)Cl with a compound: CH 3 COCH 2 COOR 3 in the presence of an acid acceptor or (b) by reacting a compound: Cl 2 P(X)-O-C(CH 3 ) = CH-COOR 3 in the presence of an acid acceptor firstly with a compound R 1 OH and then with a compound R 2 SH or firstly with a compound R 2 SH and then with a compound R 1 OH. The processes may be carried out in a solvent or diluent preferably at 20-80‹ C. The products have pesticidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositionswhich may also contain other pesticides e.g. other organic phosphorus compounds, derivatives of nitrophenols, formamidines, ureas, carbamates or chlorinated hydrocarbons.
