abstract 1435636 Organopolysiloxane compositions RHONE-POULENC SA 10 May 1974 [11 May 1973] 20800/74 Heading C3T An organopolysiloxane composition vulcanizable to an elastomer at ambient temperature and above comprises: (A) 100 p.b.w. of an α,#-dihydroxydiorganopolysiloxane of viscosity 500-1 million cP at 25‹ C., in which the organo radicals are C 1 -C 3 alkyl, C 3 -C 4 haloalkyl, vinyl, C 6 -C 8 aryl, C 6 -C 7 haloaryl or C 3 -C 4 cyanoalkyl radicals, at least 60% thereof being methyl radicals; (B) 10-50 p.b.w. of a methyl polysiloxane resin consisting of R(CH 3 ) 2 SiO 0À5 and SiO 2 units in the numerical ratio of 0À4 : 1 to 1À2 : 1, wherein R is a C 1 -C 3 alkyl radical or a vinyl radical, the resin containing from 0À5-3À5% wt. of Si-bonded hydroxyl groups; (C) 10-70 p.b.w. of a filler, which may be inorganic and/or organic; (D) 0À5-15 p.b.w. of either (i) an aminoorganosilane of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> represents a C 1 -C 4 alkyl radical, or a vinyl or phenyl radical, R<SP>11</SP> represents a methyl, ethyl or methoxyethyl radical, Q is hydrogen or the radical -(CH 2 ) 2 NH 2 , p and m are 0 or 1, n is 1-4 and t is 2 or 3, or (ii) an aminoorganopolysiloxane produced by reacting the aminoorganosilane (i) above, in which p is 0 with a hydroxylic methylpolysiloxane (iii) of the average general formula where a=1À6-2À3, and b=0À1-1, and containing at least 2% wt. of Si-bonded hydroxyl groups, and having a viscosity of 1-1000 cP at 25‹ C., the amounts of (i) and (iii) being such that there are 0À4-1À2 mols of (i) per gram (hydroxyl group) of (iii); and (E) 0-10 p.b.w. of a C 1 -C 3 alkyl silicate and/or alkyl polysilicate. The composition may be in the form of a 2 part pack wherein the first part comprises components A, B and optionally at least a part of C, and the second part comprises components D and E, when present, and optionally at least a part of C. In the examples compositions are prepared from (A) an α,#-dihydroxydimethylpolysiloxane oil, (B) an OH- containing resin of (CH 3 ) 3 SiO 0À5 and SiO 2 units and optionally (CH 3 ) 2 (CH 2 =CH)SiO 0À5 units, (C) diatomaceous silica or CaCO 3 , (E) polyethylsilicate and n-propyl silicate; and optionally (F) an α,#-bis-(trimethylsiloxy)dimethylpolysiloxane oil; and (D) any one of the following aminoorganosilicon compounds: NH 2 (CH 2 ) 2 NH(CH 2 ) 3 Si(OCH 3 ) 3 ; NH 2 (CH 2 ) 3 Si(OC 2 H 5 ) 3 ; NH 2 (CH 2 ) 3 Si(CH 3 ).(OC 2 H 5 ) 2 ; NH 2 (CH 2 ) 3 O(CH 2 ) 3 Si(OC 2 H 5 ) 3 ; or NH 2 (CH 2 ) 3 O(CH 2 ) 3 SiC 6 H 5 (OC 2 H 5 ) 2 ; or a polysiloxane prepared by reacting an α,#- dihydroxydimethylpolysiloxane oil with the first aminosilane listed above. The compositions adhere without the aid of primers to various substrates, e.g. metals, wood, masonry, ceramics, plastics, glass, laminates of glass fabrics and organic resins, rubbers, asbestos and woven and non-woven products.
