titleOfInvention | Process for the activation of cholesterol oxidase |
abstract | Cholesterol oxidase is activated by adding a surface-active compound with lipophilic and hydrophilic properties. This method is advantageously used for detecting and for determining cholesterol and cholesterol esters in body fluids by oxidising the cholesterol with oxygen in the presence of cholesterol oxidase to cholestenone and hydrogen peroxide and detecting the hydrogen peroxide by peroxidase-catalysed oxidation of an oxidation catalyst, wherein the cholesterol oxidase is activated before it is used by adding a surface-active compound with lipophilic and hydrophilic properties. The diagnostic composition for carrying out this method is distinguished by consisting of an absorbent carrier or a plastic film which is impregnated with cholesterol oxidase, a system for detecting H2O2, buffer and at least one surface-active compound with lipophilic and hydrophilic properties, or contains these embedded in it. |
