abstract | 1433732 Hydroxyethyl starch sulphates AJINOMOTO CO Inc 8 July 1974 [12 July 1973] 30253/74 Heading C3U [Also in Division A5] A sulphate of hydroxyethyl starch in the free acid form or in the form of a metal salt or complex, e.g. of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, aluminium, bismuth or iron and preferably having a molecular weight of 1000- 200,000, a D.S. of hydroxyethyl groups of 0À2 to 1À2, a sulphur content of 2-18% by weight and an intrinsic viscosity of 0À02 to 0À5 at 30 C. in water, may be obtained by reacting hydroxyethyl starch either with chlorosulphonic acid in pyridine, or with sulphuric acid; neutralizing, filtering, mixing the filtrate with a watermiscible organic solvent, separating any precipitate and, if necessary, converting the sulphate from free acid form to metal salt or complex form or vice versa. |
