titleOfInvention Bicycloalkane derivatives
abstract 1431819 Bicycloalkane derivatives SCHERING AG 7 June 1973 [8 June 1972] 27235/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the general Formula I: in which n is 1 or 2; X is -CH 2 -Z 2 -R 2 , -CH 2 COOR 4 or -CH 2 CN; Y is a carbonyl or dialkoxymethylene group; Z 1 and Z 2 are each a free or ketalized carbonyl group or a free, esterified or etherified hydroxymethylene group; U is a halogen atom; R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each a C 1 -C 4 alkyl group; and R 4 is an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group. They may be prepared by reacting a compound of formula in the presence of a basic catalyst, with either a vinyl ketone of formula or a compound of formula in which W is a halogen atom. Any carbonyl group represented by Y in the resulting compound may be converted into a dialkoxymethylene group by treatment with an alcohol or a ketal which is capable of setting free an alcohol under the reaction conditions.
