abstract | 1431532 Preparing acid nitro dyestuffs HOECHST AG 1 Feb 1974 [2 Feb 1973] 04689/74 Heading C4P Acid nitro dyestuffs are prepared by reacting a benzoquinone with an aminonitrodiphenylamine sulphonic acid at a pH below 7. The reaction preferably takes place in aqueous solution in the pH range 3 to 6 in presence of manganese dioxide using benzoquinones of the general formula wherein R 1 -R 4 are H, alkyl or Cl and aminonitrodiphenylamines of the general formula wherein m is 1 or 2 and rings A and B may optionally be further substituted by halogen, alkyl or alkoxy. The dyes are used to dye leather in green and brown shades. |
