abstract 1431364 Isophthalic acid derivatives BAYER AG 6 Sept 1974 [12 Sept 1973] 39007/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Dimethyl 5 - methylamino - isophthalate is made by hydrogenating dimethyl 5-amino-isophthalate in dioxane in the presence of a methanolic HCHO solution and of Raney Ni, at 110‹ C. and 60-100 atmospheres. The corresponding 5-isobutylamino-, 5-cyclohexylamino- and 5-isopropylamino compounds are prepared analogously. Dimethyl - 5 - n - butylamino - isophthalate is made by hydrogenating dimethyl 5-nitroisophthalate and n-butanol in methanol and CH 3 COOH using Raney Ni at 50-60‹ C. and 40-60 atmospheres. The corresponding 5-npropylamino and 5-cyclohexylamino compounds are prepared analogously. 5 - Isopropylamino - isophthalic acid is made by adding glacial CH 3 COOH to 5- amino-isophthalic acid dihydrate and acetone in methanol, and hydrogenating using Raney Ni at 100-110‹ C. at 60 atmospheres. 5-Isobutylamino-isophthalic acid is prepared analogously.
