abstract | 1430303 Dental filling material AMALGAMATED DENTAL CO Ltd 15 Feb 1974 [15 March 1973] 12620/73 Addition to 1401805 Heading C3P A dental filling material comprises a mixture of a finely divided, inert organic filler; the reaction product of an organic diisocyanate and an at least stoichiometrically equivalent amount of a hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate having the formula (wherein R<SP>1</SP> denotes H or methyl, R<SP>2</SP> denotes an alkylene radical and R<SP>3</SP> denotes a divalent hydrocarbon radical); and a bisphenol A derivative having at least two terminal acrylate or methacrylate ester groups. The exemplified composition is made by mixing liquid A containing a 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate/2,2,4- trimethyl hexamethylene diisocyanate reaction product, triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TGDM), p-tolyl diethanolamine (activator), a U.V. stabilizer and silica with liquid B containing bisphenol A dimethacrylate, TGDM, butylated hydroxytoluene, di-tert-butyl sulphide (inhibitor), water, benzoyl peroxide (catalyst) and said silica and with a filler, e.g. quartz, glass, silica or aluminium oxide coated with a coupling agent such as gamma-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane. |
