abstract | 1429556 Purification of 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid TEIJIN Ltd 30 May 1973 25889/73 Heading C2C Crude 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid obtained by the oxidation of 2,6-dialkylnaphthalene is purified by a process comprising the steps of (a) preparing an aqueous solution of a dibasic salt of said crude 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (by precipitating 40-97 mol. per cent of the dibasic 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate dissolved in said aqueous solution substantially as a monobasic salt of the 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid while maintaining the pH of said aqueous solution at a value not lower than 6À3, and separating the precipitate, and (c) converting the separated precipitate to a 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid. |
