1429284 1- and 3-Hydroxy or bromo-undecadienes FIRMENICH SA 5 June 1974 [7 June 1973] 24977/74 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions A2 A5 and C5] 3-Hydroxy-undeca-1,5-cis-diene and undeca- 2-trans 5-cis-dien-1-ol are prepared by reacting 1- bromo hept-1-cis-ene with lithium or lithium and copper iodide and reacting the resulting organometallic derivative of the heptene with butadiene monoepoxide. The alcohols may be halogenated by treatment with PBr 3 to give 3- bromo-undeca-1,5-cis-diene and undeca-2-trans- 5-cis-dien-1-yl bromide. Penta-1,4-dien-3-ol may be prepared by reacting vinyl bromide and Mg in the presence of methyl iodide and iodine and reacting the resulting Grignard derivative with aerolein. |
