abstract | 1427612 L-Tryptophan KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO Ltd 24 May 1973 [27 May 1972 16 Nov 1972] 25025/73 Heading C2C L-Tryptophan is made by aerobically culturing a mutant strain of Corynebacterium glutamicum which (a) has a requirement for phenylalanine and tyrosine and is resistant to (b) at least one tryptophan analogue selected from 4-, 5- or 6-methyltryptophan 7-azatryptophan, 5- or 6-fluorotryptophan, tryptophan hydroxamate, α - methyltryptophan and 3 - indolylacrylic acid, and (c) at least one analogue of phenylalanine and/or tyrosine selected from (2-, 3- or 4-fluorophenyl)alanine, (2-, 3- or 4- methylphenyl)alanine, (2-, or 3-hydroxyphenyl)- alanine, (2-, 3- or 4-aminophenyl)alanine, (2- or 4 - nitrophenyl)alanine, # - (2-, or 3 - thienyl)- alanine, (2 - indolyl)alanine, (1 - naphthyl)- alanine, (2 - naphthyl)alanine, (2 - pyridyl)- alanine, (2-, or 3 - thiazolyl)alanine, phenylalanine hydroxamate, 3 - aminotyrosine, 3- fluorotyrosine, 3-hydroxytyrosine, 3-nitrotyrosine, (5-hydroxy-2-pyridyl)alanine and tyrosine hydroxamate. Fermentation is effected in an aqueous medium containing sources of carbon and nitrogen, inorganic nutrients and growth factors. |
