titleOfInvention | Process for the production of 2-nitro-5-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid chloride and 2-nitro-5-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid |
abstract | 1427106 2-Nitro-5-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid and its acid chloride BAYER AG 24 April 1974 [27 April 1973] 17835/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the production of 2-nitro-5-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid chloride and/or 2-nitro-5-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid wherein m-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid chloride is nitrated with at least the stoichiometrically necessary quantity of a nitrating agent. The reaction is usually carried out at 0‹ to 150‹ C. Advantageously in the production of the acid chloride a temperature of 0‹ to 90‹ C. is used and in the production of the acid a temperature of 70‹ to 150‹ C. The nitrating agent is generally nitric acid or a mixture of nitric and sulphuric acids. |
