titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of so-called -cold-cured- felxible polyurethane foams
abstract 1427001 Polyurethane foams RHONEPOULENC SA 20 July 1973 [20 July 1972] 32283/75 Divided out of 1426783 Headings C3R and C3S In a process for the production of a "coldcured" flexible polyurethane foam by pouring a foamable composition into a mould, closing the mould, forming the foam and releasing it from the mould, the foamable composition contains 0À1 to 5% by weight of an organosilicon compound of the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> represents a hydrogen atom, a monovalent C 1 -C 8 hydrocarbon or C 1 -C 3 halohydrocarbon group, and G represents a divalent hydrocarbon group of 1-15 carbon atoms, n is 0 or 1 and b is 1 or 2. The organosilicon compounds can be prepared by the cohydrolysis of organochlorosilanes optionally in the presence of an organic solvent. Preferably they are prepared by reacting the organochlorosilanes with C 4 -C 8 tertiary aliphatic alcohols alone or in admixture with C 1 -C 4 primary or secondary alcohols. In the examples the following organosilicon compounds and are prepared by reacting a mixture of (CH 3 ) 3 SiCl and either or or with tertiary amyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol in the presence of toluene. The resulting organosilicon compounds are added to polyurethane foamable compositions comprising a polyether triol of M. wt. 4800, a polyether glycol of M. wt. 800, water, dimethylcyclohexylamine, triethylenediamine, fluorortrichloromethane an 80/20 isomeric mixture of toluene diisocyanate, and p,p<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanatodiphenylmethane. The resulting foams have a thin light porous surface skin.
