abstract 1425749 Liquid detergent compositions KAO SOAP CO Ltd 19 April 1973 [20 April 1972] 19058/73 Heading C5D Liquid detergent compositions comprise (1) at least 45% by weight of water, (2) at least one anionic or non-ionic surfactant, (3) a hydrotrope which is a C 1 -C 3 alcohol, a benzene sulphonate, p-toluene sulphonate, a xylene sulphonate, an acetyl benzene sulphonate, a glycol, acetamide, a pyridine dicarboxylic acid amide, an aromatic carboxylic acid salt, urea or triethanolamine and (4) a hydrocarbon solubilizing agent which is a C 6 -C 14 aliphatic saturated hydrocarbon and/or a (C 6 -C 14 alkyl) benzene, the weight of component (4) being 3% to 30% of the weight of component (2). The surfactant may be an alkyl benzene sulphonate, an alkyl sulphate, an alkane sulphonate, an α-olefin sulphonato, a salt of a polyoxyethylene alkyl or alkylphenyl ether sulphuric acid ester, a compound of formula wherein R is C 8 -C 22 alkyl or alkenyl of a (C 6 - C 17 alkyl) phenyl group, R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1 -C 4 alkylene group, M is a water-soluble cation and n is 1 to 30, a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether or a polyoxye hylene alkyl phenyl ether. The compositions are used for washing dishes or clothes. They have phase stability at low temperatures.
