titleOfInvention | Method of manufacturing high speed steel from powdered metallic material |
abstract | 1424109 Isostatic pressing of sheathed metal powders ALLM NNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 11 June 1973 [12 June 1972] 27670/73 Heading C7D An isostatic pressing process of producing sintered high speed steel articles comprises packing the powder or green body in a container, degassing the powder, introducing a gas consisting primarily of nitrogen into the powder so that it acts as a thermal transfer medium during the subsequent heating step and then isostatically pressing the assembly with a fluid medium such as N 2 or an inert gas. The gas consisting primarily of nitrogen may be partially or completely removed from the powder by evacuating prior to sealing and pressing. The presence of the gas greatly reduces the time of heating e.g. by 10 hours. The container may be a steel cylinder and degassing is effected by connecting the container to a vacuum pump. The powders used are a high speed steel containing in wt per cent 1À25C, 4Cr, 6À3W, 5Mo, 3À4V and 8À7Co or 0À85C, 4Si, 6W, 5Mo, 2V. |
