abstract | 1422308 Continuous production of aromatic aldehydes MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL CO Ltd 8 May 1974 [10 May 1973] 20296/74 Heading C2C In a process for the continuous production of aromatic aldehydes comprising reacting an aromatic hydrocarbon with carbon monoxide in the presence of hydrogen chloride and boron trifluoride, the reaction is effected in a tubular reaction zone capable of providing a turbulent flow of the reactants liquid therein, while feeding the carbon monoxide to the reaction zone at a plurality of different locations spaced apart in a direction cocurrent to the flow of the reaction liquid. An example describes the preparation of pure and ortho-toluyl aldehydes and toluene with the aid of an apparatus described with reference to a diagram. |
