abstract | 1420570 Pyridine N-oxides PARKE DAVIS & CO 19 Feb 1974 [20 Feb 1973] 7616/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) where Het signifies 4- or 6-methyl- or 3- or 5- chloro-2-pyridyl 1-oxide, or 5-bromo-2-pyridyl 1-oxide or 3,5-dichloro-2-pyridyl 1-oxide, are made by reacting Het. SH or its alkali metal salt with 2-bromo-5-nitro-thiazole. The following compounds are also prepared: 2,5 and 2,3-dichloropyridine oxides, 2-bromo-3,5- dichloropyridine oxide, 3- and 5-chloro-2-mercapto-pyridine oxides and 3,5-dichloro-2-mercapto-pyridine oxide. Pharmaceutical preparations having antifungal and antibacterial actions contain (I) as active ingredient. Administration is orally, parenterally or topically. |
