abstract 1420328 Triazolyl phosphorus esters: triazole derivative CIBA-GEIGY AG 8 Dec 1972 [10 Dec 1971 29 Sept 1972] 56817/72 Headings C2P and C2C The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R 1 is C 1 -C 5 alkyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl or phenyl, R 2 is C 1 -C 5 alkoxy or phenoxy, R 3 is C 1 -C 5 alkyl, C 1 -C 5 alkoxy or C 1 -C 5 alkylthio, R 4 is C 1 -C 5 alkyl and X is O or S. They may be obtained by reacting a hydroxytriazole or an alkali metal salt thereof with a halide wherein Hal is Cl or Br, the reaction being carried out in the presence of an acid binding agent when the free hydroxytriazole is used. The compounds have pesticidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions which may also contain other pesticides, e.g. other organic phosphorus nitrophenols and derivatives, pyrethrius and analagous compounds, formamidines, ureas, carbamates and chlorinated hydrocarbons. 1-Isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5-methoxy-1,2,4-triazole is obtained by adding 1-isopropyl-3-hydroxy-5- chloro-1,2,4-triazole to a solution of sodium in methanol and refluxing the mixture for 15 hours.
