titleOfInvention Dental adhesive composites
abstract 1419640 Dental compositions LEE PHARMACEUTICALS 29 Dec 1972 [3 Jan 1972] 60022/72 Heading C3P An adhesive dental restorative composite comprises (1) a suspension of filler fibres each having a length of 1 to 100 microns and a diameter <SP>1</SP>/ 20 to <SP>1</SP>/ 5 of its length, in a liquid polyacrylate resin (defined) having a viscosity of less than 5000 centipoise, (2) a peroxide catalyst and (3) an accelerator (e.g. a tertiary amine) for the resin. The fibres may have been treated with an organosilane keying agent. The resin may be a mixture of a compound of the formula where R 1 is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl and R is where x is 1 to 5, CH 2 (CH 2 ) y CH 2 O where y is 1 or 2, CH 2 CHOHCH 2 O(CH 2 ) 4 , OCH 2 CHOHCH 2 O or CH 2 CHR 3 CH 2 O where R 3 is OH or OCOCR 1 = CH 2 and an aromatic or alicyclic di- or polyacrylate. In the examples calcium silicate fibres are treated with hydrolysed gamma-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxy silane and mixed with a blend of bisphenol A bis-(3-methacrylate- 2-hydroxypropyl)ether and triethylene glycol dimethacrylate, N - bis - (2 - hydroxyethyl)- p - toluidine benzoyl peroxide, 3 - tertiarybutyl - 4 - methylphenol and in some cases TiO 2 and butylated hydroxy toluene. In use the compositions are applied to a tooth and permitted to harden in situ.
