titleOfInvention Bis-alkylsulphonyl-vinylbenzenes as uv-absorbers for polymers
abstract 1417224 Synthetic resin compositions AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 25 July 1973 [6 Sept 1972] 35523/73 Heading C3P Polymer compositions are stabilized against u.v. light by incorporation of a compound of formula where R is C 1 to C 12 alkyl or C 5 to C 6 cycloalkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is C 1 to C 6 alkyl or alkoxy, or hydrogen. In examples the compound used is p-[2,2-bis (ethylsulphonyl)-vinyl]anisole and polymers stabilized are polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene. With polyvinyl chloride an alkylenebis-amide such as methylene-bis-(acrylamide) may be added to augment the stabilization. Other additives in the compositions exemplified include di-n-butyl tin bis-(isooctylmercaptoacetate), organo tin mercaptide, dibutyl tin maleate and stearic acid.
