titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of natural resin products |
abstract | 1414699 Modified natural resin products HOECHST AG 29 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 15208/73 Addition to 1403895 Heading C3R A modified natural resin product is obtained by reacting (a) a natural resin, (b) an ethylenically unsaturated dienophilic monomer free from carboxylic groups and anhydride groups and (c) and α,#-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid component in a proportion of at least 5% by weight based on the natural resin. The three components may be reacted simultaneously or successively. The carboxylic acids may be esterified before or after being added to the reaction mixture. Non-polymerizable acids also may be present. A metal compound may be included to form a salt or resinate. Other resins may be included. In examples colophony is reacted with maleic anhydride, styrene, vinyl toluene, maleic acid, indene, an olefinic hydrocarbon fraction and styrene-maleic anhydride telomers; other materials present are zinc oxide, glycerol, pentaerythritol, calcium acetate, p.-tert.-butyl peroxide, hydrocarbon resins, a propoxylated novolak resin and xylylene. Uses.-Printing ink binders and adhesives. |
