abstract | 1413151 Foamed synthetic resin-propellant compositions WHAM-O MFG CO 9 Nov 1972 51641/72 Heading C3C [Also in Division C4] A pressurized container contains a decorative composition which comprises a synthetic resin for forming a cohesive plastic foam; a surface active agent, and a fluorinated hydrocarbon propellant in an amount sufficient to eject the composition from the pressurized container as a plastic foam string, which has sufficient surface tackiness to adhere to an inert surface with an adhesion less than the cohesive strength of the foam, the resin and the surface active agent being soluble in or miscible with the propellant. Suitable resins are an alkyl methacrylate resin having 3 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, a copolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl butyrate and polyvinyl butyral. The composition may also contain a plasticizer, a solvent for the resin which is miscible with the propellant, a non-volatile silicone liquid, a pigment or dye and a flame-retardant. In the examples the compositions contain polyisobutyl methacrylate, pigments, trichloromonofluoromethane, silicone liquid, sorbitan trioleate, dibutyl phthalate, dichlorodifluoromethane, dimethyl chlorendate, hexabromobenzene and a copolymer of n-butyl methacrylate and isobutyl methacrylate. |
