abstract 1412120 Tape applying apparatus FILMFABRIK WOLFEN VEB 15 Dec 1972 58008/72 Heading B8F An apparatus for severing marker tapes 31 from a strip 9 and applying them to a magnetic tape 2 comprises an applying device 3 pivoted into and out of engagement with a tape 2 passing around a conveyer roller 1 and comprising a spring urged roller 18 for pressing marker tapes on to the tape 2 and a friction roller 11 which is engageable with the tape on the conveyer roller 1 and geared to drive feed and severing rollers 12, 13 for the strip 9. The roller 12 carries knives 16 and the roller 13 has a resilient surface covering. The pivotal movement of the applying device 3 is effected by a solenoid 5 connected to the device 3 through a leaf-spring 7. The solenoid is controlled by a gear 22 having spaced bores 23 through which light from a lamp 25 can pass to a photodetector 34. The gear 22 is rotated by a roller 11 which engages the conveyer roller 1 while the friction roller 11 of the applying device engages the tape 2. The apparatus includes a plurality of applying devices 3 which are pivotal about a common shaft 4, a further solenoid (29), Fig. 1 (not shown) at one end of the shaft 4 and a spring (30), Fig. 1 (not shown), at its other end, can move the shaft 4 axially.
