abstract 1410877 Supporting flat cables SINGER CO 10 July 1973 [21 July 1972] 32885/73 Heading H1A [Also in Division H2] A sealed enclosure comprises one or more tape cables 22, 24 each consisting of a first portion 26, 28 without the housing 14, a second portion, such as 34, 36, 38, 40 within the housing and a third portion 44 interposed continuously between the mating surfaces of the housing 14 and its cover 12, there being elastomeric gaskets 60, 62 on each side of the third portion adjacent said housing and lid surfaces. The two tape cables shown each have an annular third portion of shape the same as the mating surfaces, the portions being superposed and bonded to each other, to polyimide sheets and to butyl rubber gaskets 60, 62 by polytetrafluoroethylene. Screws 66 hold the cover, gaskets and cables to the housing. The terminating portions 34-40 are connected to a terminal block 42 in turn connected to components (not shown) in the enclosure. Protrusions 67, 69 prevent spreading of the gaskets. The enclosure may be filled with helium.
