abstract | 1410874 Sulfonation of mononitro aryl compounds WITCO CHEMICAL CORP 13 June 1973 [14 June 1972] 28207/73 Heading C2C Mononitro aryl compounds sulfonates in which the aryl group is optionally alkyl or halogen-substituted phenyl or naphthyl group and which contains at least one replaceable hydrogen atom which is meta located with respect to the nitro group are prepared by adding liquid sulphur trioxide whilst maintaining the reaction mixture at a temperature of between 80 and 90 degrees and then raising the temperature of the reaction mixture to between 90 and 100‹ C. to effect further sulphonation. |
