titleOfInvention | Method of producing alkenyl benzenes |
abstract | 1410300 Dehydrogenating alkylbenzenes BADGER CO Inc 13 May 1974 [30 July 1973] 21112/74 Heading C5E Alkylbenzenes are catalytically dehydrogenated to alkenylbenzenes, hot combustible gas being introduced into the dehydrogenation reactor as a heat source. Preferably the fuel gas is rich in methane and is mixed with steam, the pre-heated mixture being contacted with preheated ethylbenzene before being fed into the dehydrogenation reactor. 1-4 Moles of fuel gas and 6-16 moles steam may be used per mole ethylbenzene. Unreacted fuel gas may be recovered from the reaction effluent, burned and the heat used to satisfy part of the heat requirements of the process or to convert water to steam for use as diluent. |
