| abstract | 1408109 Anticoccidial compositions MERCK & CO INC 17 Dec 1973 [18 Dec 1972] 58382/ 73 Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] A composition for the prevention and cure of coccidiosis comprises an inert carrier and one or more complexes of H, H'-dinitrocarbanilide with one of the heterocyclic compounds having the formula: wherein R is methyl or ethyl and R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are each hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy. The composition may be in the form of a medicated feed composition containing, for example 0.00025-0.05% by wt. of the active ingredient, a feed supplement containing, for example 1-40% by wt. of the active complex, or the active complex may be suspended in the drinking water. The finished feed is one that contains a source of fat, protein, carbohydrate, minerals, vitamins and other substantial factors, and other conventional additives may also be present. The compositions may also comprise one or more other coccidiostats such as sulphaquinoxaline, other sulphur compounds, 4, 4'- dinitrocarbanilide-2-hydroxy-4, 6-dimethyl pyrididine complex, 3, 3'-dinitrodiphenyldisulphide, 5-nitrofurfural semicarbazone, anprolium, zoalene (Trade Mark), biquinolate or ethopabate. |
