1407670 Anti-sunburn polymers L O'REAL 29 June 1973 30990/73 Heading C3P [Also in Divisions A5 C2 and C4] A polymer comprises chains comprising recurring units of the formula in which: each Z radical, which may be the same or different, is a monovalent aromatic radical such that the polymer displays an absorption maximum in the ultra-violet region from 280 to 315 nm. In the examples acrylamido - methyl - 4 - methoxy - 2 - hydroxybenzophenone, stearyl methacrylate, 3-(acrylamido - methyl - benzylidene) - D,L - camphor, dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate, N-vinylpyrrolidone, methyl acrylate, N - methacryloyl - D - glucosamine, stearyl acrylate, acrylamido - methyl - 7 - hydroxy - 4- methyl - coumarin, 3 - (acrylamido - methyl)- 4-hydroxy-coumarin and acrylamido-methyl-4- hydroxy-benzophenone are polymerized in the. presence of azobisisobutyronitrile, acetone, methanol, dioxane, ethanol and dimethylformamide. The copolymers with dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate are quaternized with dimethyl sulphate. Anti-sunburn oils, lotions, aerosols, aerosol foams, creams and milks and dyeing wavesetting lotions are made up from the polymers. |
