1405255 Supported olefin polymerization catalyst SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 22 March 1973 [24 March 1972] 13923/72 Heading C3P Alpha-mono-olefins are polymerized in the presence of (a) a supported chromium trioxide, (b) a trialkyl-aluminium compound and (c) titanium trichloride. Hydrogen may also be present. The product may be in the form of fibres suitable for the manufacture of synthetic paper. In examples, ethylene is homopolymerized or copolymerized with propylene in the presence of (a) CrO 3 on SiO 2 and (b) Al(C 2 H 5 ) 3 , Al(i-C 4 H 9 ) 3 , Al(C 8 H 17 ) 3 or Al(C 14 H 29 ) 3 without (c), for comparison (broad molecular weight distributions), (a) and (c), for comparison (narrow molecular weight distribution) and the moderated distribution obtained according to the invention illustrated using (a) + (b) + (c), where (b) is Al(C 8 H 17 ) 3 . |
