They may be prepared by a Diels-Alder reaction between 2 or more mols. of furan and 1 mol. of ethylene at 120-250‹ C. and a pressure of 20-2000 atm. abs. and fractional solvent extraction of the solid product so obtained. Among the examples are those describing the preparation of compounds in which n is 15 and 27.
