titleOfInvention | Process for the solid phase condensation of polyesters |
abstract | 1402071 Solid phase condensation CIBAGEIGY AG 28 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 14938/73 Heading C3R A cooled precondensate melt of polybutylene terephthalate (at least 95% of the units consisting of terephthalic acid and 1 : 4 butanediol) is communuted, its water content, if present is reduced to at most 0À5% by weight, and the resulting particles are heated without drying and precrystallization ot 5-60‹ C. below the melting point of the precondensate. The melt may be extruded into filaments. Examples describe the initial polymerization, followed by extrusion, breakdown of filaments into granules and monitoring of further polymerization by in trinsic viscosity data. |
