abstract | 1399419 Pre-paint coating composition DIAMOND SHAMROCK CORP 17 Oct 1973 [18 Oct 1972] 48404/73 Heading C4A A pre-paint coating composition for imparting corrosion resistance to metal substrates is prepared by (1) making a pulverulent zinc-free precursor constituent comprising an aqueous medium having a pH of 0À8 to 6 and containing a dibasic hexavalent chromium providing substance plus reducing agent for the Cr<SP>VI</SP> so provided, and (2) blending the precursor constituent with a pulverulent Zn containing component. The precursor may contain dibasic dichromate of Mg, Sr, Zn and/or Ca. The reducing agent may be a dicarboxylic acid containing succinimide, acrylamide, or aspartic acid. Tertiary alcohols and/or chlorinated hydrocarbons may be added to the aqueous medium. |
